This route shows the majestic mountains of Montsec, which passes the rivers Noguera Pallaresa and Noguera Ribagorçana, with its impressive edges and steepnesses like the canyons of Terradets and Mont Rebei, still waters of the four big reservoirs with spots which contain a rich flora and fauna, and the rough scenery surrounded by abrup mountains.
The route passes Ager, a village where twirly roads will bring you to the highest part of the village, where you will find the ruins of the church of Sant Pere and the routes to the castles. The valley of Ager is the ideal spot to practise paragliding to enjoy the huge country. There are possibilities to realise many excursions to spots yet to discover, like the majestic edges of the canyon of Mont Rebei, the best preserved of the country.
The municipal of Avellanes contains the people of Avellanas, Vilanova de la Sal, Santa Linya and Tartareu. In this district you will find interesting churches and Roman chapels.
One of the most interesting monuments to visit in the district will be the monastery of Bellpuig de las Avellanas, built in the 7th century. It Keeps the remainders of the counts of Urgel in simple tombs. Another important village to visit is Camarasa. In this old mediaeval village you will find the Roman church Sant Miquel. The cheerful park at the bank of the river is also worth visiting. Here you can find the reservoir of Sant Llorenç, with its rich fauna of waterbirds. The reservoir is the ideal place to practise wateractivities, from the canyon of Terradets to the lake of Noguera Pallaresa and the Segre.
